Cacen Ffenest is a contemporary digital image maker working with low-resolution imagery and digital paint.
By working in low resolution achieves soft edges, low quality, blurry and pixelated pieces of work that are not necessarily visibly resolved and are imprecise.
Cacen Ffenest takes the name from the Welsh Language for window cake.
A view through an artistic window at everything sweet and captivating or maybe a love for Battenberg Cake.
By studying the human form Cacen Ffenest has captured day to day sequences from taking a shower to a post shower Frenzy.
By capturing expressions and emotions that the viewer might feel.
The use of strong bold colours such as red and green in the ‘Red Series’ to the lighter palate for ‘The girl in pink’.
Not only is the artist heavily influenced by expressionism but also abstract expressionism and form.
This can be seen in such work such as ‘Embracing’
Embracing shows a moment captured in time between two loved ones.
Hopefully the artwork will ignite or show human emotions to each viewer.
A quote regarding the work:-
“The artist plays with naturally occurring distortion, I am left with thought provoking ghost like images which challenge our perception of reality.”
Elin Howells - Surface pattern designer
